POIT Lesson 6 Peripherals

Peripherals are devices that provide the computer with input or output

    • Mouse: Input
    • Keyboard: Input
    • Monitor: Output
    • Printer: Output
    • Flash Drive: Input
  • Keyboard is an input device that sends information to your computer with keys or key combinations
  • There are optical or laser mice, wireless mice, trackball mice, etc.
  • There are 2 types of monitors, LCD (flat screen) and CRT (box in the back)
    • Monitors can be input if they're touch screen
  • A pixel  is a small colored dot that's displayed on a screen. More pixels means more detail. Standard: 1280 x 720 HD: 1920 x 1080
  • A scanner is something that reads a printed image or document to create a digital product.
  • Drives: They all include Floppy drives, CD-ROM drives, DVD Drives, and Blu-ray drives.
  • External drives gives users more storage options, they're like flash drives. SSD's (Solid State Drives) are the new and upcoming thing.
  • Tower cases  have expansion bays. They normally have at least one bay for an optical drive.
  • My dream computer needs peripherals
